About Lewis π«
Lewis is our 4 year old squishy faced, Aussie Bulldog....this big lovable goofball is currently in care with cats and a rabbit and although he puts on the big tough guy act when meeting them, with slow introductions and regular exposure to them, he accepts that they are there to stay. He is quite territorial within his own home when it comes to other dogs though so would be best suited as an only dog. He is quite happy to see them when out and about on his walks, but he won't be inviting them back to his place for a play date! Lewis walks great on lead and enjoys his short walks with the family.
English Bulldogs make wonderful family pets and quite loving to most children, as long as they are respectful of animals. They thrive on human attention and are typically low-endurance dogs, needing only a moderate amount of exercise. Lewis enjoys his short walks and games of fetch in the backyard but has also perfected the art of 'napping' and will sleep anywhere, anytime...although some ear plugs may be required due to his snoring! He is currently sleeping outside under a large covered area in a kennel and is more than happy with his sleeping arrangements, but if he was to be given the opportunity to sleep inside, I'm sure he wouldn't complain!
Lewis is such a lovable and affectionate boy and loves nothing more than to plant a big sloppy kiss right on your face if he gets the chance! He does love to come inside but still needs some work on his toilet training, but with consistency and perseverance, this is something I'm sure he will work out soon enough, especially if he has his own comfy lounge or bed on offer indoors. Lewis is quite a well behaved boy and listens to commands. He will sit, shake hands and laps up every bit of affection on offer.
There are some things that really do send him into panic mode...wind, rain, storms and fireworks. This is something that his carer has been working on during his time in care, although in his previous home, the reactions were very minimal. We are trying various calming techniques, medications, thundershirts & calming collars as well as desensitisation techniques, but this is a work in progress....maybe he just needs his own bunker!
An important part of the Bulldog breed (or any breed with lots of wrinkles and skin folds) is caring for their skin. They are susceptible to diseases like yeast intertrigo, a condition which leads to itchy rashes on the skin. Simply wiping between your dogs folds once a day will prevent this.
We would love to see Lewis find a home where he is very much a part of the family, because his humans are his world. He would cope quite well in an apartment or townhouse with a courtyard due to his not so active energy level, but would also be happy with a bigger yard so he can enjoy a game of fetch.
Lewis is located in Lake Haven on the Central Coast, NSW and available for adoption now. He is hoping to spend this Christmas in his Forever home.

Adoption details
If you would like to express interest in adopting, we ask that you send through some info about yourself, your family and home, if you rent or own (rental agreement required if renting and rates notice required if you own) and what you can offer this gorgeous baby. Our aim is to find the best homes for our babies, not necessarily first in best dressed, so a good detailed application will make you stand out from the rest.
Once we have received your email outlining the above, those who we feel may be suitable, will be sent an Adoption Questionnaire to complete. Your enquiry will then be passed onto the appropriate carer and successful applicants will be contacted via phone.
