Hi everyone!
My name is Vegemite/Vinnie/V and I am one of the cutest nuggets of love you've ever seen! I was rescued from the council pound at just 4 months old. I was just another unwanted puppy, abandoned with no hope until OTC came for me and my other pound friends. My exact breed mix is unknown however my vets think Dane/Arab x Cattle dog. As of end of Sept 19, I am 19kg and expected to reach 30kg as an adult.
I have a beautiful merle pattern and a stumpy tail. When my 'tail' wags, so does my whole butt! I have a bit of a case of resting b face hehe, sometimes I look a bit stern in photos but I am actually a really happy boy! I love to play with other dogs, sit with you in the sun, and nap under the deck.
I chase after toys when you throw them but don’t quite have the hang of picking them up and bringing them back yet... that's a work in progress! I can sit, stay and ‘up’ on command. Drop is hard for me but I look pretty funny trying though, hehe. I often have birds sitting in my yard, and just leave them be. I'm a pretty calm guy. I get along great with dogs, but haven't yet met cats or other animals (apart from wild birds).
I don't mind baths at all, and just sit or stand there while you do it. Sunbaking after, is a must! I can be a little lazy and just want to lay in the sun and watch you. I currently sleep outside at night under the deck, and don't mind one bit. Sometimes I use my kennel, sometimes I don't - I would prefer to have one just in case. My ideal home has another dog for company, and if you want me to sleep inside at night that's awesome! Just know my current foster isn't allowed dogs inside so I am not 100% toilet trained- but given my age, this shouldn't be a big deal, I should learn quickly! I currently live behind 6ft colourbond fencing, but should be ok with a lower fence- I show no sign of wanting to escape. I would like to be taken on walks or park play dates 3 times a week+ ; I am medium energy but love my outings! In the car, I am a happy and well behaved boy and I have learned to love my vets too.
So what do you think? Could you be my happy furever after? If so please apply to meet me today!
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:
- Real estate approval
- Fence requirements
- Outside shelter areas
- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
