About Ruby - Previously named Banshee
Introducing our Heeler x Jack Russell Ruby. This girl is super smart, active and tenacious!. She needs a home that is committed to continue her training and to exercise on a daily basis.
Please Note: Ruby has the strong terrier tenacity, high drive and red heeler hearding instincts.
Ruby loves to sun bake outside during the day but loves nothing more than being inside with her humans in the evening before going outside to sleep or to retire to a crate inside. Ruby is crate trained and feels happy and secure sleeping in her crate at night time. Ruby is house toilet trained - we have had no issues with her toiletting in foster care but the family that adopted her and then returned her advised that she had a few accidents inside. We think with a doggy door or regular reinforcement of going outside to the toilet she will quickly transfer her toilet training to a new home.
Ruby is not suitable for rural properties/farms as that heeler drive and tenacity kicks in and she can't help getting herself into self rewarding runs after sheep etc.
Ruby needs a secure yard particularly with secure gates as she is very smart and keyed into the click of gates. She would love nothing more than going on her own adventure if the gate is not shut properly. Ruby is an avid hunter - mice, rats, lizards & possums so anyone looking to adopt her needs to be aware of this.
Ruby has been tested with dog savvy cats and she was good with them. Ruby has previously lived with and loved to play with a cat.
Ruby can be a little tentative meeting new dogs but once comfortable is happy to have a play. She really dislikes "rude dogs" that rush up to her or get into her face. She will snap back at them to tell them to back off.
Ruby has previously lived with school age children.
If you would like to know more about Ruby please contact Carolyn via email.
Ruby's adoption fee is $600 and she goes to her new home vet checked, vaccinated, flea and worm treated, microchipped and desexed.
Adoption details
We like to take the personal approach where a person sends an email of interest around an animal and then we will follow up with phone discussions and email exploration through a survey.
We expect the prospective owner to travel to meet the animal and we are open to trial periods to ensure we have the match right.
