Medical Notes - Celia is completely blind and has been since birth. When she came into our care 5 months ago she was diagnosed with a tumor on her left eye lid and left tip of her ear. These tumors have both been removed which meant her left eye and the tip of her ear were removed also. This hasn't affected Celia at all as she was already blind before this surgery. Celia has also had major dental work done to remove severe severely diseased and infected teeth.
Our gorgeous girl Celia is finally ready to start looking for her forever family to spend the rest of her golden years with. Celia came into our care after we got an emergency call from a veterinary clinic who had an appointment booked in for Celia to be put to sleep. Her owners were moving house and they thought she would be an inconvenience during this process so elected to put her to sleep. When Celia arrived she was very underweight, her mouth was full of broken abscesses teeth, and her left eye was inflamed and sore. Bit by bit we started to get her health concerns fixed up to make her feel more comfortable.
Celia has had her left eye removed due to having a tumor on the third eye lid. This was sent away and the results returned as a Haemangiosarcoma. This is a malignant tumor but one that very rarely spreads to anywhere outside of the area it was found in the eye. By removing the globe of the eye we were able to remove all of the tumor with clean margins giving Celia a great prognosis. She has had the tip of her left ear removed due to also having a tumor, which came back as a benign sun spot. She has had multiple sore and infected teeth removed and the rest of her teeth cleaned up. She has been FIV tested (negative) and had a full blood panel run.
A few notes from her foster carer - Since all her health issues have been attended to she has really started to shine, she is very independent even though she has the lack if sight, she loves to be near me and follows me everywhere and jumps at any opportunity to snuggle. Nighttime she loves to sleep on the bed, has no issues jumping up on her own, and no issues running around the house. She also loves her toys and will call you when she wants to play and present her choice of toy to you. Excellent with the litter box have not had one issue and loves her food. Not sure she would like dogs, perhaps an older cat as she gets spooked if too boisterous. Don't think young kids would be ideal. She is a lovely little girl and watching
her you would not think she has sight issues.
Celia's medical history will be discussed in detail with any potential forever families. She must go to an INDOOR ONLY HOME. Please pm us if you would like any further information about Celia, or to arrange a meet and greet. 🐾
