About Apple
Hi! My name is Apple. I came into care with my sister Orange at just 12 weeks of age, after our breeder abandoned us in a council pound. We were out of time and headed for euthanasia, but OTC came to our rescue! Sometimes in my photos I look a bit sad - don't worry I am as happy as can be- but how much can I rock those puppy dog eyes when there is a treat behind the camera!! Total heartbreaker. I am a wolfhound x, probably arab. I have that wolfy scruff in some parts, but silky hair underneath. Cutest little whiskers you've ever seen!!
Since coming into care I have been nothing but a delight. I love other dogs, and am quiet as a mouse! My carers have only heard me bark once! I am food orientated which makes training easy. I am such a sweetheart, very excitable but also with this placid and happy vibe... I'm a very easy dog to have around. I'd suit someone who wants company and a sidekick, minus the in-your-face energy some puppies bring. I spend my days just hanging in the yard, or sitting with my carer in the office.
I know come, sit, wait, and am getting good at walking on a leash. I sleep inside or outside at night- I don't seem to have a preference! I currently live with 2 x large breed male dogs, and 1 x female teen dog too. I also live with a cat, but I do try to catch her- so please don't try to make me live with cats. My current fence is only 1.2m at the front and while I can stand up and look over it, and could jump it if I wanted- I show no sign of wanting to! I know where my home is.
I wait patiently at the gate and don't barge out, and at the vet I am really really well behaved. I don't mind car trips, I just sit there quietly. I used to get carsick after about an hour of driving, but this seems to be easing as my carers now make a point to take me on drives a few times a week. I'm now rarely getting sick even on long trips. Across town to the dog park or vet etc, I'm fine. I just sit and quietly watch what is happening. i have met human children before and love to chase balls when they throw them, or lay there snuggling them. My favourite toy so far has been the Kong 'Wubba' and playing fetch.
My ideal home has enough time to take me out to the park or on walks 3 times a week. I am not high energy, but with such beautiful manners it'd be a waste to not take me out. I enjoy and deserve to sniff, roll and play in nice new places and love the dog park, too. I really enjoy learning and doing things with my carer. I would like to sleep inside at night if I am going to be an only dog, but if you need me to be an outside dog and have another dog for company and snuggling, then I would be ok with that. I am in great health and am eating Blackhawk Large Breed Puppy biscuits. At the end of Sept 19 and nearly 5 months old, I am a healthy 20kg. So I will likely reach 45kg as an adult and should stay on a high quality, large breed food.
So, what do you think? Can I be your new family member? Apply to meet me, you won't be disappointed!!
Medical notes
I am healthy and happy. I am desexed, and microchipped. I am up to date with worm, heartworm, flea and tick treatments, and have had all 3 vaccinations for the year (c5 standard)

Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
