About Roy
Sweet Roy is a rare find, like a diamond in the rough. We believe he may have spent his early years wandering alone but he is adapting quickly to domestic life and a little time polishing will reveal the most precious family dog, who truly wants to be part of a special family.
Roy is a happy and gentle boy. He likes seeing people and meeting new dogs. He is not hyperactive like many his age. At the park he likes to play with new friends, and when he has had enough will happily go about his own way sniffing new smells, whilst staying in the vicinity of his foster family. He also enjoys playing with sticks and balls, but when he has had enough, he will let you know.
Roy isn't one of those dogs who will sit on your lap and crave constant attention. He likes to be around his family, but is also happy to be on his own, lying in the sun or relaxing in his own space. Please do note mistake this for aloofness; he is a joyous boy, just comfortable being with others and also on his own...
He is intelligent and also food motivated, so will be very easy to train. He knows his name and comes back when called. He knows 'sit' and also walks well on a lead. As an active dog he would benefit from further training, and needs daily exercise to keep his mind and body active and healthy.
Roy needs a family willing to invest time in him, and shower him with the love he deserves. He's come far from his days on the Gibb River Road, and so wants to be part of a family that loves him. He is gentle with children so would suit a family with kids to interact and play with him. He would also suit active singles or couples who would involve him in everyday life. Roy would be fine in a family of full time workers as he is calm and happy in his own presence and does not get upset or anxious when his foster family goes to work.
Roy is a small dog, but on the larger side of small.
Please note that Roy does get scared from inflatable crocodile pool toys, so his prospective family will need to lock those away. That is a story to ask his foster mum.... 😊
