About Spike ~ Staffy X (on trial 3/10/19)
Hello! My name is Spike. I'm a Staffy X and I’m 9 months old. For unknown reasons, I was dropped off at the pound as a young pup, spending most of my life there. I'm a big beautiful boy and I get a lot of compliments on my looks. I have fair colored skin around my eyes and nose and my eyes are also pale so I need someone who will be very diligent in helping me wear my dog goggles and sunscreen on sunny days.
My favourite things in life are my humans, snoozing, meeting and playing with other dogs and chewing on my toys. I don't need loads of exercise, but a daily walk and some adventures will keep me happy, healthy and release some of my puppy energy. The rest of the time I'm happy to curl up next to you on the couch, watch TV and sleep. I sleep inside on my bed and I spend all my time indoors when my humans are home.
As I'm a big puppy, I’m still exploring the world and learning and understanding my boundaries. So far I can sit, my recall is good and I am learning to stay. I am focusing on improving my walk on the lead at the moment as I am a strong puller. I am very receptive to learning and will do fantastic with consistent instruction and training. I am house trained but may need to get used to my schedule initially in a new environment.
I have been working on meeting and learning to trust new people with my foster parents, as I can be cautious and scared around people I don’t know. Slow introductions work best for me. It's important for me to continue having this exposure and socialization with my fur-ever parents.
I would be content as an only dog as I love having your undivided attention, however I would also be very happy living with fellow pooches. I think I would be great with a single person, a couple or a family with kids over 12 due to my size and boisterous energy during play time. My cautious nature with new people makes me think I would be a great guard dog. I'm not a fan of birds, chickens or any furry friend that moves fast.
When you get to know me you will be amazed at how chilled I am, my gentle nature, my hilarious snores and facial expressions and how easy it is to live with me. My foster parents can't believe I was in the pound and in a short period of time formed a very close bond with me. They will be sad to say goodbye but are so excited and hopeful about the joy I will bring to your life.
