About Ardy
Hey guys!
My name is Ardy, short for Ardeshir - which is the name of an ancient Persian unifier... why? Because I was leader of a pack of dogs rescued from a horrible situation, who helped them find strength and confidence in their new beginnings.
There were six of us, and we were all underfed, and sick with a thing called coccidiosis from our living situation. Coccidiosis is a parasitic disease of the intestinal tract of animals...the disease spreads from one animal to another by contact with infected faeces or ingestion of infected tissue. Basically we lived in such filth that it was impossible for us to escape the poop, and got infected. One of our friends even drowned in the sewage pit in our pen... we didn't have a good time... I was the bravest of the group and they all looked to me for guidance. Thankfully we were surrendered to a council pound, and the staff there took amazing care of me until Off The Chain could come and save us all.
The second we entered Off The Chain K9 Rescue Qld's care, we got treated for our cocci and fed a premium diet, and have made a really quick recovery!! (and don't worry there are no long term effects of our neglect- I am now fit and healthy and never looking back!). I am now a healthy, happy boy who is excitedly looking forward to my new life (fyi, we all are!! All of us made amazing recoveries). My crooked grin is so reflective of my nature. Happy and different! I am such a quirky, fun boy to be around. I currently live with another dog, and am very dog friendly. I have one heck of a bark, and will definitely scare off intruders - though my owner will only hear it if someone is at the gate or sneaking around the street.
My favourite toys are chew toys and food dispensers (like Kongs), and wrestling with other dogs. Because there was not enough food for us all where I'm from, I do get a bit food possessive when other dogs are around. So my owner shouldn't leave bowls or bones out (nobody should be doing this anyway with any dogs- but more so with dogs who are possessive). I currently have a clamshell pool full of dirt and sand to dig in, which I really love. Maybe you could get me one and bury my toys in it?
I go great in the car, and happily stick my head out the window to take in the sights and smells. I don't like cats so please don't try to make me live with them. I currently sleep in the garage at night, on the 'dog futon' with my doggy foster sibling. I know all my basic commands and have a 5ft fence currently, which I show no desire of wanting to escape from. I am a bulldog mix, approx 6 months old in Aug 2019. I would fit easily into any home that wants a loving, goofy and happy dog. I can't wait to meet my new family and show them that even dogs from the worst of places, can become the goodest of boys. Will you snuggle all my pain away?
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:
- Real estate approval
- Fence requirements
- Outside shelter areas
- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
