About Bella
A nine-year-old with loads of personality! Bella is a shih tzu x poodle, with possibly a little bit of pug thrown in. She is a living teddy bear that adores affection and human companionship.
Bella was surrendered to a pound and we are not exactly sure why – she is an absolute delight! It could have been because of a large protruding lump on her chest. Her paperwork stated it was just a lipoma that had been checked by a vet and was nothing to worry about….
Bella arrived into our care and we had one of our preferred vets examine her large chest lump. We agreed that it needed to be removed – even if it was nothing sinister, it would likely continue to grow and become uncomfortable for her. And we are so glad we did. The results of her lump confirmed that Bella had a subcutaneous mast cell tumor. The surgeon is confident he removed the entire lump. Wide margins were taken and her cell growth is low which means it is highly unlikely it will grow back.
Throughout her recovery, Bella’s energy level has never waivered. She continues to be a happy little dog that shadows her foster care around.
Bella is currently being fostered with another dog who she gets along well with. She absolutely loves her walks and will need regular exercise to maintain a healthy weight. Bella walks excitedly on lead and shows lots of interest in other dogs she meets.
Bella is toilet trained and knows how to use a doggy door. She is incredibly food motivated and will tell you when she is hungry. She can be vocally impatient as you prepare her dinner!
Don’t let Bella’s age deter you – this girl has a lot of life left in her, and will make someone the most perfect companion.
Bella’s ideal home would be where she has human company more often than not. A young family, someone that works from home or can take Bella to their work, or even an active retiree would be perfect. She needs daily walks and an adopter that is willing to share their bed with her. She is super smoochy and loves her cuddles. Bella will also require regular grooming to avoid matting and to keep dreadlocks at bay!
Bella could be rehomed with another dog, but she shows too much interest in cats to live with them. Human company is what she craves most.
If Bella would fit into your lifestyle, then we want to hear from you!
Medical notes
Bella had a cancerous tumour that was removed and she has made a full recovery.
