About Cookie cutest smoosh!
ookie is a stunning looking boy, and a shining example of how far a little love can go. We're in awe of how friendly, trusting and loving he's become. We believe he was once owned as a cute fluffy kitten but like many male cats allowed to live outdoors, found himself abandoned or forgotten and had to fend for himself. As a result he unsure of humans and when he came into care with us we had to regain his trust. It didn't take long for him to remember though and he's now a purring ball of super-friendly fluff who has only one mission in life - to give The Best Cuddles Ever to his hoomans and The Best Headbonks to his kitty buds!
Cook is happy in the company of other cats, will seek out human company, follow you or just watch you go about your chores, and really doesn't ask for much. He just wants a human of his own to love, and a couch or sunny spot to snuggle on. This boy is a real catch, don't miss the chance to bring this love into your home and family! :)
Medical notes
* Cookie is FIV positive however please don't click off his profile on reading this! Its important to understand what FIV means, its nothing like the stigma it has in the cat adoption field and is an unnecessary (and heartbreaking) barrier to amazing cats finding forever homes :(
How cats contract FIV:
Alot of FIV cats (pretty much all that rescue orgs come across!) are gentle, feline friendly and submissive. We believe they contract FIV from being bullied by more dominant roaming males, NOT from being aggressive, FIV does NOT equal aggression. A sweet boy like Cookie who loves his kitty buddies, is not a threat to other cats. FIV is ONLY transferred via deep bite wounds where the FIV cat's saliva and the other cat's blood mix this means there has to be a serious fight for transference to happen. Cookie would never initiate a fight or even argument with your existing cat, he's 100% gentle and loving towards them. If your cats is used to others and will happily accept a newbie into your home, they'd be absolutely fine together 😎
For the same reason, although Cook wouldn't CAUSE the transference of FIV (he doesn't even know he has it!), he should be kept as an inside cat to avoid the chance of a roaming male seeing him as a threat and starting a punch on :)
FIV and health:
Many of our team members own FIV cats (who live in harmony with non FIV cats) and find that a quality dry food and occasional vet visit is suffice to keep these guys healthy. As long as they're vaccinated and aren't exposed to ongoing new cats which could be carrying various illnesses, there's no reason an FIV cat would be any less healthy than a non FIV cat :)
Please contact us if you have any questions about this or would like to discuss our gorgeous boy fitting into your home safely :)
