About Solomon
****Please APPLY using this link.https://www.goldenpawsrescue.com.au/forms - Only these completed EOI Applications will be responded to****
Say hello to 5 year old Solomon!
Solomon began his journey with GPR as an overweight severely matted Goldie. Fast forward 4 months and look at him now. He has lost 6.5kg to date, his fur is growing back & he is so happy!
This boy has a larger than life personality and is always so excited to see you! Solomon is a happy go lucky guy who is looking for a family that are active and will take him on daily walks. He is currently walked twice a day and is doing well on harness and with basic commands. Solomon loves company and will spend all day with you if he could. His bubbly personality will certainly win you over. Solomon loves car travel, & is now using the ramp to get in & out of the vehicle. Occasionally he does need a little help!
Solomon was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia prior to being surrendered to us. Our Vet has assessed him with mild HD when he first came into care. Obviously his excess weight did not help, so it is vitally important that his furever family are committed to continuing his weight loss regime! Does it stop him from doing anything? Absolutely not, however his new furever family will be mindful of the fact that when he gets tired from exercise, he does need to rest as his back leg slows down for a short period of time! Included in Solomon’s food are joint supplements which his new family will continue to provide for Solomon’s benefit.
For anyone who believes that Solomon is the most amazing doggie for their loving family, please take note of the following:
We are looking favourably for a family for Solomon where there is another doggie for company. We would be looking for a family that are very active and will be committed to helping him continue his weight loss for another couple of kgs, then maintaining his weight with great quality food. Solomon will not be available for adoption to a home with young children. Solomon is not good with cats or small animals (ie: guinea pigs, chickens etc). We are looking for a family in a single storey dwelling, however a couple of stairs are manageable for Solomon (ie: patio area etc).
Solomon has been desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm & intestinal wormed, flea and tick treated, & his adoption fee is $550. He is available for adoption in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast & Hervey Bay only. We do not adopt in regional Qld, Interstate or overseas. Solomon is being currently fostered in Brisbane.
TO APPLY TO ADOPT ONE OF OUR AVAILABLE DOGS:
In order to be considered for adoption, you will need to complete an Expression of Interest form. If we don’t receive this Application Form with your email, we cannot consider you as a potential family and we can't contact you.
We require this information to help us determine the best possible home for Solomon. Just as you want to know about Solomon, we need to know about you too so we can find the best home for our Goldies!
Please go to https://www.goldenpawsrescue.com.au/forms and choose the EOI form, print out, complete, and return to us (saved as a PDF) to goldenpawsrescue@bigpond.com. Please include any requested information.
Successful families are chosen based on their compatibility with the individual needs & lifestyle requirements of each Golden in our care.
We do encourage anyone interested in adopting one of our Goldies to please read our Adoption Process which is located on our website under the “Our Adoption Process” tab. This lists our process from start to finish.
Please ensure that you have attached your Expression of Interest Form & any other relevant information when you email our team!
Thank You!
Medical notes
Solomon has been diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia (mild) - What does this mean?
Solomon was diagnosed with HD at 9 months of age whilst owned by his previous family (he saw a specialist then). When Solomon first came into care he was obese and obviously this impacted on his back legs. Our Vet has diagnosed Solomon with mild HD after examining him. Solomon can still run, walk, play, rumble with the best of them. When he gets tired, his back left leg moves a little differently. Very hard to describe until you actually see it. Once Solomon has rested, he is fine again. While his HD will never go away, it can be managed by exercise, great quality diet, and making sure his weight is under control. Obviously there may be things that Solomon can't quite do (like climb a mountain!), but we haven't found anything yet.
Can his HD get worse over time? Quite possibly, but it may not. It is just one of those things that is unknown. We cannot guarantee any Goldie's continual good health.
