Budgie is 3.9kg but don’t let his size fool you, he’s sassy, playful and could easily rule the roost if you allow him.
He is born to be a lapdog, the closer he can climb up to your shoulder and face and lick you, the better. His favourite activities are stealing socks and barking. He barks when he’s happy, excited, upset, guarding the house or when he wants you to pick him up.
Despite his spunk and personality, he is very anxious in new situations and with meeting new people so would do best in a quiet home. He doesn’t like being alone so someone working from home or retired would suit him best.
His default way of dealing with new situations is to bark, growl or snap so he’ll need to go to a home experienced with little dogs like him and one with no children. Once he knows you’re not a threat, he’ll shower you in kisses.
He would do best as an only dog and has more than enough spunk to keep you occupied! He is untested with cats.
Budgie is located in Glenroy.
Medical notes
Budgie has a partial tear of the cruciate in his left leg. The vet took a conservative approach in treating it due to the success rate of Zydax injections in small dogs. He has responded well to a four week course of the injections and the leg is showing some improvement. Care needs to be taken for life regarding exercising him, playing roughly with other dogs and avoiding jumping up and down off furniture. Later in life he may require cruciate surgery or develop arthritis in his leg. Due to this issue, he only needs limited exercise. You will receive all his vet notes upon adoption.
