About Chief
Hi there! My name’s Chief and I’m looking for my forever family.
I love people and I think kids are pretty great. They give lots of belly rubs which are awesome and I love catching the ball when they throw it. I’m a big, strong boy though and I kind of forget just how strong I am so I would be best suited to older kids or at least kids who have grown up with big dogs like me. I live with an 8 year old little human and I love just following him around the yard all day.
I am a bit selective about my doggy friends. I don’t like the ones that get in your face or are cranky so I’d like a friend who is calm. I currently live with two other dogs in my foster home and I do like the girl a bit better so a medium to large girlfriend in my new home might be nice. I’d also be fine as an only dog if you were planning on spending some quality time with me and weren’t gone all day, every day. I live with a cat but I don’t really care for him so I would like a home without one of those please.
Dinner time is super exciting and my big body likes to jump in circles when I see that food coming. I know how to sit and wait for my food though. I’m not a fussy eater at all.
Foster Mum says that I must find a family who are experienced with big, strong dogs. I came into care with no lead training. My foster family have taught me to walk on a halti but I still need training on how to walk politely and not pull, so my new family must be understanding of this and committed to continuing to help me learn. I tend to ignore the dogs I see when we are out walking. I’m not high energy so a daily walk and a play in the yard will keep me happy. I will need high, secure fencing to keep me safe.
Foster Mum doesn’t think I’ve been an inside dog much so I’m getting used to coming inside more but I happily spend most of my time outside. I haven’t had any toileting accidents when I’ve been inside. I’m very quiet outside too and rarely bark, and never dig. I’m a great watch dog though, and if something unusual is happening near my fence line I will let you know by my very big, deep bark. It has to be something pretty exciting though or I won’t bother.
Foster Mum says I would make a great companion for a family experienced with large dogs who want an affectionate and loyal friend. So if that’s you, then you should come and meet me!
Love Chief
