About Sunny
Hi there!
I’m Sunny, I came to be in OTC care when our mum’s owner dumped us at the pound. They’d been approached by OTC who offered for them to surrender us but apparently, it was easier to just leave me and my sister and brother on our own in the council pound at 5 weeks old! My name suits me perfectly... I am bright, happy, and going to bring a warmth to your life.
I sleep in a crate at night from 9pm to about 6am without a peep. I also know that the outside is for the toilet and inside the house is for cuddles with my people. I am polite and like to have a snuggle on the couch when invited. My house training is going very well! I am used to carers who work full time hours on a varied roster, and I just happily hang out at home in the garden with the other dogs. I love dogs, and am fantastic with cats. I am very respectful and my motto is 'sniff and let live'. I have met horses also and have some potential to be safe around livestock. I'd be the perfect pet for someone who wants a walking buddy (leash training is going well!) and because I get along with everyone, I'd easily slip into any type of family! My carers have 4 and 5ft fencing and that is adequate to keep me safe so far. I go to the dog parks where I have fun meeting other dogs. I like to check in with my humans regularly while I am there and am very submissive with other dogs. I enjoy car rides and generally sleep the whole trip, rarely getting sick (just don't feed me before trips and I should be fine!). My favourite toys are rope toys, and soft toys, and I am learning fetch. I know how to sit, drop, 'inside' and 'bed time'.
We’re a bit unsure about what my dad was, but OTC’s best guess is that my dad was a Border Collie x. Mum was a staffy X arab. This means I’ll probably end up around 20-25kg mark. Although I won’t be too big, I’ll still need walks a few times a week, and a yard for me to hang out in when you’re out.
Come and meet me! You'll love me the way I love peanut butter!
Medical notes
Healthy and happy! I've been desexed, had my vaccinations and a microchip, and am up to date with worming and flea treatments.
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:
- Real estate approval
- Fence requirements
- Outside shelter areas
- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
On commencement of the trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract, the vaccination cards, desexing certificate and microchip number implant details. You will also be provided with 7 days worth of food, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
