About Abby Girl ~ Cattle Dog X Staffy (on trial 5/10/19)
Hi! My name is Abby Girl. I am a 3yo Staffy X. I was not very happy when I came into foster care from a pound. The pound frightened me, and I was very timid and nervous of loud noises, sudden moves, brooms, people with hats on, just about everything! Since being in foster care I have overcome many anxieties and just love life.
I share my foster carers’ attention with their Staffy x Cattle female dog, and we get on really well. I am not sure about the cat. I barked at her once and got roused on by my foster mum so now I just look and wonder.
I help feed the horses but have learnt not to go near them, nor do I go near the cows! I run freely outside the house yard into the paddocks and love it! I run hard and fast.
I come back when whistled and sit beside my foster carer. I walk quietly on the lead, even when my foster sister runs ahead off the lead. I still haven’t been tested in a community setting though with other dogs.
I am relaxed and happy, when I smile my whole body wags I am so happy. I am learning that the car is a comfortable place to be and use the access ramp to get in. I will need to be introduced carefully to cats and pocket pets.
I have my own go-to-place in the inside laundry (my choice) and sleep there all night. If I want to go in or out through the day and the door is closed, I just stand there or give a little scratch at the door and “somebody” just appears and lets me in or out. I do quietly explore other parts of the house so consider myself an inside/outside type of girl.
I am also a morning girl. I wake up about 7:00 and go outside to toilet, I play with my foster sister for a while, have breakfast, play again for a while and then we both snooze on our beds, either inside or outside. I am not big on ball games, had a go but couldn’t see the sense in it. I would rather hang around with my foster mum; she does the most interesting things and talks to me all the time. I don’t go with her when she feeds the horses though, they are big, and they scared me, and I barked and got roused on again.
I am not an escape artist, I don’t jump, climb, push past anyone in doorways or gates. I do get excited and jump up when it’s play time or when I welcome home my foster carers. I am learning that’s a “no no” and I get more pats and cuddles when my four paws are on the ground. I am a quiet girl, I only bark when it’s something important, like a strange car coming in. I sit when my food is served (but not for long, I luuuve my food). I shake hands for attention, not to say hello. I am learning to walk quietly on the lead and when off the lead love to run. I come back when whistled but haven’t had the opportunity to be tested in a community setting or outside with other dogs.
I would love to be in an active family with older children, I would be okay with “little people” but I could knock them over accidentally. I need a big fenced- in yard, no courtyards or patios for me! It would be good to have a companion dog, but I don’t think it’s essential. I am quite intelligent, a quick learner, very friendly and affectionate and love human company. I have finished having puppies forever, would love to get my figure back but sometimes us girls just have to live with saggy boobs.
I can’t wait to meet you and start my next life chapter. Please consider me for an addition to your family, you will not be disappointed if you are looking for a new best friend to have fun and games with.
