About Jazz
1) Generally
- Good with Other Dogs
- Not Good With Cats
- Good with Kids + 12 yrs due size
- Toilet Trained
- Size 26 kgs
2)Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Good with dogs and older kids, Jazz is happy, affectionate, smart and playful.
Her favourite things include attention, walks, exploring, swimming and pigs ears. She may lazily chase a bird from time to time and will happily chill out in a comfortable spot to watch the world go by between naps.
Storms tends to scare her a little and she is not fond of being bathed - but loves going to a dog washer ... it must be the treats!
3) Ideal Owner
Active singles or couples who want a four legged companion to join them on walks, adventures and playtime at home - she loves that and has so much fun!
Jazz thrives on human company but can cope alone. She would enjoy playing with older kids.
Jazz is good with kids but like most dogs, does not like being rough housed. We recommend any kids be 12 yrs or older and only if gentle and calm around dogs.
Kelpies like a strong pack leader who is firm but kind.
Another permanent friendly dog would be nice but not essential.
Jazz will not suit homes where people live in very close proximity to each other with small outside areas e.g. villas, units, apartment complexes, terrace houses, strata complexes etc.
As Jazz is people orientated she needs to be part of family activities.
She will not suit homes with residents that are:
- very young, frail, elderly,
- renters or
- time poor.
4) Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker unless left alone for extended periods with no exercise before hand.
Jazz will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not.
- empty nesters.
- active retirees.
5) Exercise Requirements
Medium. Jazz loves a good 30 minute outing especially if it involves swimming. She also loves to accompany people on adventures. At home she is playful and enjoys a game of chasey.
6) When ON a lead ...
Like most dogs she starts off pulling but settles.
7) When OFF a lead ...
Her recall is good when called by her 'pack leader' but may ignore a call by someone less confident - kelpies are a smart lot !!
8) Type of Yard Required
Medium to large interesting and secure.
May take advantage of an open gate and wander off but does not usually try and escape.
Ok with shoulder height fencing.

Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS (simple and easy)
1. Read the dog's detailed profile thoroughly - for you to self screen
2. The Expression of Interest (EOI) form MUST be completed prior to a meet and greet.
https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
3. Speak to the carer/owner directly for more detailed info to determine if there are any 'deal breakers' - designed to save time and avoid falsely raising hopes.
4. 'Meet & Greet' - you travel to where the dog is. If you have a current dog it must meet too. We strongly recommend all members of the family attend. Both parties may wish to report their thoughts to each other but MUST update Dog Adoption directly too.
5. The dog MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS have been made e.g. travelling more then 2 hrs round trip. In this case we need a minimum of 2 days notice. The adoption agreement and payment must be made before collection of the dog.
6. Normally, both parties have a think about the meeting, and if they wish to proceed, the adoption is completed after the adoption agreement, payment and screening is finalised.
7. A 2 week cooling off period commences once the dog arrives.
