About Ace
Ace is a black Lab cross that is approximately 18 months old. He is curious, calm, affectionate and very friendly. He loves scratches behind the ears and on his chest – but what he loves most is being with his human companion. He is crate-trained, but would prefer to lie at your feet instead of the crate.
If you’re looking for a dog to play fetch, Ace is not for you. He will look at what you throw, and then stay by your side.
As with any dog, Ace should not be left alone in the yard to get bored; he will find ways to entertain himself – usually to his companion’s dismay. He generally doesn’t jump on people or tables (at least, not anymore), but it can’t be completely ruled out; especially if over-stimulated or if there’s something interesting on the table.
Ace’s new owner should be patient, active and committed to his ongoing training and development. Ace thrives with consistent rules and guidelines; inconsistency will lead to problem behaviours very quickly (this will occur with most dogs).
Ace loves being with people; he does get excited when guests first arrive but he settles down quickly.
Ace loves going for walks and is a pleasure to walk. He doesn’t pull on the leash. He sits on command and is learning other obedience commands such as “down” and “stay”. He tries to get these right, but his enthusiasm and wiggly bum sometimes get in the way. He’s a lovely, happy dog and mostly a good boy; he will provide his new family with lots of love and affection.
Adoption details
Please go to the website http://www.rescuealabrador.com/
to submit an adoption application. Please click on the adopt a dog link on the left hand side of the screen and complete the questions if you are interested in adopting aLabrador.
We will not discuss specific dogs with you until you have completed this questionnaire as this allows us to establish which dogs are potential matches for your lifestyle.
Once we have found a suitable match to your family, we will allow you to contact the appropriate foster carer who will discuss the dog in more detail with you.
Once you are both satisfied that this is a good match you will be able to meet the Lab. If all goes well, you will be able to take the dog on a 2 week trial. You will complete the adoption paperwork and pay the adoption fee at this stage.
At the end of the 2 week trial you will be able to adopt the Lab and we will submit the microchip transfer to the council.
