About Missy (CaV18-163)
Hi there, my name is Missy and I'm a beautiful girl looking for a super special family.
I'm amazing for lots of reasons - I'm extremely affectionate and loving, a real people cat who loves to be with you, on you and beside you. I'm a perfect family cat as I am great with kids and will happily tuck up under the covers or get involved with any games happening on the floor. I'm expressive, with a wide repertoire of different mews, meows, squeaks and grumbles (I don't grumble much, but it's kinda cute when I do!)
Before we go any further though, there's something we need to get out of the way. I've been diagnosed with feline leukaemia virus (also known as FeLV). First things first - it is definitely NOT something I can pass on to kids, or dogs, or rabbits, or birds... or anyone besides other cats. I CAN pass it to other cats through my blood or saliva so it is very important that I'm your only cat (which works fine because I hate other felines anyway!) and I must also be very strictly kept totally indoors so that I can't spread it to other cats in the neighbourhood (I am used to living indoors and I'm totally chilled about it. Plus my pale pink nose would be super prone to sunburn anyway!)
Although it has leukaemia in its name, the disease isn't cancer. It's an immune deficiency a bit like AIDS, which means I'm a bit more vulnerable to catching other bugs and things. Unfortunately I am likely to have a reduced lifespan. It's impossible to say how long or short my life will be at this stage. Right now, I'm the picture of health. I am a solid little girl (the vet even suggested I might need to lose some weight!) My eyes are bright and clear, I have absolutely no presenting health problems. My illness was only detected on a routine blood test. I have energy to spare and love to play like any young kitty.
If you have more questions about my health, please do feel free to contact the lovely people at my rescue, who can answer those queries you have. But we will get back to the good stuff now!
So did I mention how friendly I am? It's really friendly! I have also lived with dogs in my foster home and can definitely do so again. I can be a pretty feisty girl (with typical tortoiseshell attitude) so a slow intro to new doggos is a necessity. I've also been living with some friendly house rabbits in my foster home and I actually get along really well with them!
SO if you are looking for a confident, friendly, sociable, smoochy, snuggly, loving kitty with personality plus... look no further! Oh and did anyone mention my incredible eyes? When I look at you it's kind of like I'm looking into your soul (in a good way!) They're a stunning pale green that's just irresistible.
And last of all - I'm FREE to adopt!
Adoption details
Thank you for taking the time to view one of our lovely animals. We love them all and we hope you will too.
If you would like to know more about an animal please call Freedom on 0409 000 259. If it sounds like you and the furry creature are a suitable match then we will pass on the foster carer’s details to you so you can call and make a time to meet them.
Once you have met the animal and wish to go further then we may organise a yard check to ensure that your yard is safe and secure (dogs only). You can then take your new family member home on a 2 week trial and if you decide they are not suitable then you can return them.
If you are not sure how existing animals in your home might be affected, or you want a little extra time to get to know the nature of the animal, we may allow you to foster with a view to adopt.
