About Griffin
Griffin - to be rehomed with his sister Pippi
Griffin I Siberian Husky X Border Collie I 7 yo
Pippi and Griffin (Griff) were rescued at a young age, and become a bonded pair in foster care and have been inseparable since. They have shared a loving home together for the past 7 years, however the family's circumstances have recently changed and they are needing to reluctantly rehome this loving pair.
Griffin is a gorgeous little boy! He is goofy, very vocal, the definite the leader and protector of Pippi. Pippi is his world, and he frets if away from his best friend. Griff does like to be the centre of attention and pushes his nose into everyone's business. There's no show without Punch...or in this case, Griff. He's always ready to plonk at your feet and immediately goes to the 'rub my tummy if you truly love me' pose. He sighs very loudly if you don't!
Pippi took a long time to come out of her shell and still suffers the effects of a less than ideal start. What happened to her is unknown. She is completely submissive to the point of still being incredibly timid, which breaks your heart. However, when she feels safe, she is a pure joy. She speaks beautifully when you talk to her directly, and sits on the couch like a Regal Queen.
She will however, cower pitifully if there are raised voices, (don't even have to be angry voices, just loud), she startles easily, is timid around all men but will approach them in her own good time, and is afraid of anyone in a hoodie if they have the hood on. Pippi has a dilemma at walk time, in that she loves walks and gets so excited she will race you to the door. On the downside, she is afraid of the leash itself and squeeze herself into a corner of you approach with it in front of you. Once it's on though, she's perfect. Despite her fears, Pippi has never displayed any aggression.
Despite their age, both dogs are still very active and will need their daily exercise. They both pull for the first 5 mins in their eagerness to be out, but then settle down to walk beautifully. They know to stop at the corners, understand Wait, and then WalkOn when told.
They love smelly, muddy water and swimming at the beach. They hate a bath or shower. Go figure!
Pippi and Griff have been very much indoor dogs and don't like you to be out of sight. If the back door is left open, they still choose to be indoors. They will let you know if they need to go outside. They understand going to the bathroom on command and will go outside when told to 'Go Toilet'.
Pippi and Griff have fostered other dogs in the past, so if it's the right match they can potentially live with another dog in the family, although our preference is for them to find a home of their own as the only dogs in the household. They have also lived with cats, and on recent assessment they were indifferent to their presence so there is potential they can suit a cat household.
At this age they have become basically very placid, middle aged & loving dogs who just want to be with their humans as much as possible. They are loyal, loving, gentle, vocal and have loads of personality!
If you have double the space in your heart for this loving duo please get in touch with us today!
