About Toby - Assisted Rehome
This super handsome boy is almost 4 years old and in need of a new forever home....Toby is a Rhodesian Ridgeback and quite a stunner! He is primarily an outside dog, but does come inside each night for cuddles with the family. He's a very affectionate boy and loves to hang out with his family during the day. He also enjoys lazing about in the sun and soaking up the sunshine. Toby generally sleeps outside, although I'm sure he would adjust quickly to sleeping indoors if that's what his new family would prefer.
TOBY'S NEW HOME -
A home with older children/teenagers or single person (active and able to control him). Someone who has the time to continue with his training. Are you looking for a running partner? Ideally, Toby would be best as an only dog or with a larger, placid dog. He would not cope well with being left on his own for long periods of time as he does enjoy being around his people.
LIKES -
* Food - he will do almost anything for a treat!
* Toys with food in them - he likes figuring out how to get the food out.
* Walks/running.
* Training/learning.
* Being chased when he has a toy - very playful.
* Coming inside at night for a cuddle.
DISLIKES -
* Storms
* Small dogs that bark at him.
* The hose
* The vacuum cleaner
CHILDREN -
* Toby does get nervous around little children who may accidentally hurt him.
* He would be more suitable in a home with children aged 10 years +
OTHER DOGS -
* Toby has grown up with an older Ridgeback x who is very placid.
* He can be unpredictable around other dogs, especially in overwhelming/stimulating environments where there is alot going on (dog parks, beach etc).
* He does not like small dogs, particularly those that bark at him.
* Toby has been ok with other dogs in his own yard, that are of similiar size and strength as him.
* He can be a bit bossy, so his interactions with other dogs depend on how submissive the other dog is.
TOBY HAS NOT BEEN EXPOSED TO CATS, BUT SUSPECT HIS PREY INSTINCT MAY BE TOO STRONG AROUND THEM.
TOBY IS FULLY TOILET TRAINED.
PLAY -
* Toby loves toys that challenge him to get food.
* He enjoys playing tug-o-war with big ropes and will occasionally fetch a ball, but doesn't always bring it back.
* He likes being chased....and he's a great runner!
BASIC TRAINING -
* Toby completed Puppy Preschool.
* He has also been training with Kim from Mutt's Manners recently. Kim was fantastic and helped out with Toby's 'leash training' and managing other dogs while out and about.
* Toby will sit and wait for his food and will start eating when you 'click'.
* He knows 'sit', 'stay', 'come', 'watch', 'leave it' and will show you this if there is a good treat on offer.
* Toby responds very well to training and a quick learner.
FOOD -
* Toby has had some skin sensitivities, so he is currently eating https://stayloyal.com.au/stay-loyal-original-grain-free-dog-food.html and since starting on this, he has not had any other skin issues.
* Toby enjoys carrots covered in peanut butter.
* He also loves a blob of plain yoghurt or a cracked egg on his food occasionally.
Toby is located at Ettalong on the Central Coast, NSW. Please contact Shae directly or send us an email and let us know what you can offer this gorgeous boy.
