About Ollie
This is Ollie, he is a very animated and young at heart Great Dane. He’s inquisitive, loving and even at 5 ½ he can be an excitable big pup. He does know how to be quiet and lounge around on the couch and he doesn’t really need any more than a 40 minute walk a day to get his exercise and see the world. He’s recently learnt very quickly to walk nicely on the lead but can still be a little taken back with new things when out and about.
Ollie will let you know when someone arrives at the home but is first in line for a pat or 100! He is quite a tall Dane and with his long neck can plant a kiss when you’re least expecting it. Ollie is a real Scooby Doo Dane. A little unsure of the unknown but quick to follow a confident handler’s lead.
Ollie means no harm but he is large and can move quickly with little space awareness. If we were to consider a home with children, they’d ideally need to be over 12 years and the home be Great Dane experienced.
Ollie has met only a few dogs in his life so his new owners will need to go very slowly introducing him to new friends and it would be unfair to expect him to cope safely in areas such as off lead parks or the dog beach. He’s not had any exposure to cats and other small animals so if they did exist in his new home they would need to be secured separately.
Car rides are a highlight for Ollie and he travels well with his big boofy head out the window. He has always had full time company of another Dane and also a retired human. He’ll need a home where they can take plenty of time to get him used to being left for short periods of time at first.
Ollie’s other favourite past times include playing in his big water bucket, cuddling on the couch or just sit on your lap.
Ollie is very lovable but before applying please consider if you have the handling skills for this giant boy. He has been able to live with few boundaries and does need a bit of boot camp to get up to speed with all the good manners a good Great Dane ambassador must have.
