About Buddy
URGENT đ¨ đ¨
We are feeling very sad for our beautiful Buddy.
Now aged 5 years đž
He has been in permanent foster care for just over 2 years , we thought it was going to be his forever homeâ¤ď¸ Unfortunately his carer is terminally ill. So only has very limited time.
Very sad for everyone x
Then sadly Buddy has nowhere to go?
Itâs like history repeating itself as this is where he started with his original owner â¤ď¸
This puts Buddyâs life at risk as we only have maybe 2 week.
Up until now Buddy stayed on his bed as company.
He was & is walked daily & extremely obedient & loving x
NEEDS AN OWNER OCCUPIED HOME.
We met Buddy when his young terminally ill ownerâs doctor contacted us because his owner was worried about Buddy being left alone in the backyard. Sadly she was too sick to be at home. Buddy was 12 months old at the time.
Buddy was a much loved family dog living with four children. Sadly his owner passed away not long after he came into our care.
During his time in care he has been with a family with disabled children, he has met and been gentle with elderly people. A retired couple
In 2019 Buddyâs foster carers were having a patio roof built in their backyard and, of course, there was lots of noise and strange people coming and going. Buddy became very worried and confused. As a consequence, a delivery man was bitten once by Buddy and Council were obliged to place some restrictions on him. These are not onerous restrictions and DO NOT affect his lifestyle nor his carerâs lifestyle.
ABOUT BUDDY
He is a Rotti mix with the colours of a cattle dog, a lovely soft coat and the heart of an angel.
He is initially shy with strangers but when he is comfortable with someone, Buddy is super affectionate and playful. He has great manners, loves car rides, children and his toys, walks nicely on the lead, chills out and thinks heâs a lap dog!
Buddy needs daily walks and to be part of the family. Buddy has always been the only pet.
Please donât let the daily walks be a barrier to you considering taking him into your home. We are willing to employ a professional dog walker to do this. We would also assist with alternative arrangements should you need to go away on holidays.
COUNCIL REQUIREMENTS
⢠A sign provided by Council needs to be in placed near the entrance of the property stating there is a regulated dog kept on the property.
⢠Buddy needs to wear a Council tag at all times with the foster carer's/ownerâs phone number.
⢠Buddy can live in the house and backyard when there is an adult in the vicinity. Of course, 6ft solid perimeter fencing and gates surrounding the backyard should be secure.
⢠Whilst there is no one home, Buddy needs to be kept in an enclosure which is outside a pool area and not part of a residential building. We will provide this enclosure which is portable and easy to erect and dismantle and includes all that is required to comply with Council's requirements. AINB will arrange a tradesperson to professionally install the enclosure.
⢠When walked, Buddy needs to wear a muzzle which we will provide and be under the control of an adult who has the control of no more than one dog at a time. This muzzle is soft and unobtrusive and Buddy walks nicely with it.
As you can see from the above requirements, they are not onerous. The space can be any configuration as long as shaded and he can comfortably move about, can back on to 6ft fence or a building wall. Buddy doesnât mind the enclosure, when his carers need to go out they make it a positive experience for him with toys and chews. It is very spacious, like a small yard.
AINB has assisted his current foster carers to ensure compliance with the above requirements, and will continue to do so with a new foster or permanent carer.
AINB will provide lifetime support of Buddyâs health and wellbeing including meds, food and toys.
Adoption details
We list animals for adoption on Pet Rescue as well as on our own Animals-in-Need Website. We talk with people who contact about an animal to see what their needs and situation are. My emphasis is on getting the right animal for the people and the right people for the animal. If everyone's needs are met things usually work out well.
If the situation sounds good we arrange a meeting. If all goes well we let people try the animal out for a couple of weeks to ensure that everyone is happy.
We keep records of all adopters, follow up to ensure all is well and undertake to take back any animal if circumstances change.
