About McKenna (on trial 21/11/14)~ Rotti x Labrador
McKenna is a female, 10 month old, Rotti x Labrador, needing a forever home. \ She is a very happy girl since being busted out of the pound! She is well socialised and enjoys playing with the 3 other dogs she is living with in foster care. She would be best suited to a home where there is another friendly dog as she would fret if left on her own. Being still a pup, McKenna has bursts of energy lasting about 5 minutes and after which she is happy to have a lay down or quietly settle chewing on a bone – she’s a low maintenance kind of gal! \
As soon as you begin to pat McKenna she flops down, rolls over and offers you her belly for a rub – too cute! McKenna enjoys her bath and often jumps in with one of the other foster dogs to try and get a second scrub! She loves chasing water from the hose too!
McKenna is toilet trained (we’ve never had one accident in foster care) and knows how to sit, come, watch (your eyes) and is working well towards mastering ‘stay’. She is highly motivated by food and treats making her easy to train. She is a good listener and is very responsive and eager to please. McKenna will happily play outside while you are at work providing she has another dog for a companion. She would need to be allowed in the house once you are home as she is still a pup and loves to bond with her humans. Inside time will need to continue when she is an adult too. McKenna sleeps peacefully, right through the night inside; she doesn’t need to go outside for the toilet during the night and rarely gets up for a drink unless it’s a hot night.
McKenna is still growing but will likely be a medium or large size dog. She is remarkably ‘springy’ when she wants to be so would therefore need 6 foot fencing to keep her secure.
If you think you could provide gorgeous McKenna with a loving home where she will have both human and doggy companionship please email Bec at becsnewemail@yahoo.com.au (preferred) or text or call 0447674208. McKenna is in foster care in Cardiff, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle).
McKenna is sharing her foster home with puppy Nixon (the black dog in the photos) and he is also available for adoption http://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/318546. You can meet them both at the same time!
McKenna's adoption fee is only $400 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.rtf.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
