Overflowing with kittens
With summer well and truly here and the heatwave spiralling out of control around the country. The AWL Qld have received a deluge of cats and kittens over the past month who are all now desexed, micro chipped, vaccinated, wormed and waiting for their new owners to come and pick them out of the crowd!
Marketing Manager Katie Garrett said “Breeding season has really picked up, today we have 62 kittens that are sitting in our cat pens waiting to be adopted.
It is vital that we find homes for these kittens currently available, as we have a huge back log of kittens waiting in foster homes for free space at the shelter.”
The AWL Qld is urging people looking for a furry addition to their family to make the Shelter on Brisbane Road at Coombabah their first stop, rather than visiting a commercial pet store.
“By adopting an animal from the AWL Qld you are not only taking home a friend that will love you for life, you are also allowing the shelter the capacity to take more animals that need us.” said Ms Garrett.
AWL Qld cares for over 12,000 stray and abandoned animals every year, and rehomes them at one of the highest rates in Australia, this is only possible through the continued support of the public.
