Guinea pig sanctuary calls for help
UPDATE: Another 17 guinea pigs arrived at the shelter last night, all in a shocking condition, bringing the total to in care to 147.
Australian Cavy Sanctuary is full to overflowing and with 130 guinea pigs currently in care, there is a very real chance of the sanctuary having to close it's doors. 'Last week we had another rescue involving 42 guinea pigs' says founder Jessica, 'and we have quite literally run out of money'.
Taking on several large rescue cases recently has seen the shelter struggling to cope and another blow was to find out that William, the sanctuary's mascot requires an urgent operation. ' William is in a critical condition and his only option for survival and recovery is to have surgery immediately', 'but the $900 needed is just out of our reach'.
The shelter is already 30 guinea pigs over the max capacity, but loosing William is just not an option. William is a very special guinea pig. He was dumped by the side of the road and left in a box to die. He was half the size of a hand, had bad mange infestation, almost no hair and he was very skinny, but through the care and patience of the ACS he was saved.
Jessica is pleading for support during this time. 'We are urgently seeking the kind generosity of animal lovers to help William and help get the ACS over this rough patch'.
