Gazebo Wine Garden turns it on for the pooches!
PetRescue just *loves* a pet-friendly venue. So when Gazebo Wine Garden arranged an event to support local rescue dogs, we just had to send Tim along to pop in and say 'woof'!
The Gazebo Wine Garden in Elizabeth Bay is one of the more supportive venues for dog owners in the Eastern suburbs of Sydney. Located on the ground floor of the former Gazebo Hotel in Elizabeth Bay Rd, the Gazebo Wine Garden is a quirky and relaxed space which serves an extensive selection of local and imported wines (and complimenting food) but doesn't take itself too seriously (much like the venue's regular Kings Cross / Elizabeth Bay crowd). Small lapdogs mix with larger breed dogs sprawled across ecelctic benches as their owners take their time sampling the 350 wines on the wine list.
Gazebo Wine Garden co-owner Fraser Short and Marketing Manager Lauren Macauley arrange several dog-friendly events each year, and this year had scheduled an informal dog show (prizes for best-dressed, best pet-owner lookalikes etc) to encourage their regulars to bring along their canine friends to enjoy the October Labour Day Monday holiday.
Amy Cooper from the Sydney, Sun-Herald is a long-time supporter of rescue dogs, and she arranged for PetRescue and DCH Animal Adoptions to be present at the event, to provide the crowd with more information about adopting or fostering rescue animals and to showcase some of the wonderful rescue pets in the care of DCH's foster homes.
Karen and Judy from DCH brought along Fletcher and Ferguson, two beautiful Collie Roughs, as well as Judy's own ex-rescue Collie named Deni.
The dogs had a wonderful time and received lots of attention from the dog-loving crowd. Fletcher showed significant self-restraint when confronted with Judy's lunch (an enormous beef burger) and his tremendous resolve not to procure the burger for himself was a testament to Judy's training and care for these lovely dogs.
A huge thanks to Fraser and Lauren and all the staff at Gazebo, Karen and Judy from DCH, Amy and everyone else involved in making this day such a huge success!
Cheers,
Tim
