Help save kittens this kitten season – become a foster carer!

Spring is finally here, but did you know that another season is on its way?

‘Kitten Season’ begins in October each year and continues right through to April; the result of the warmer weather causing undesexed male and female cats to mate. During this period, thousands of kittens flood the doorsteps of animal shelters and rescue groups, and these organisations need your help to keep up with demand!

Rescue groups and shelters are desperately seeking more people willing to open their hearts and homes to provide temporary care for young ones in need until they find their forever homes.

Every rescue organisation or shelter will offer different opportunities, but some of the more common fostering needs are:

    - Litters of young orphaned kittens who may require some socialising, or perhaps they may be getting over a sniffle;
    - Unweaned orphaned kittens (requiring more regular feeding); or
    - Pregnant mums or mums with young litters who just need a quiet place to nurse their little ones.
