Meet the PetRescue Team
Michelle 'Shel' Williamson - Top Dog
I'm Shel and I'm the Top Dog here at PetRescue. I always believed the secret to solving the homeless animal problem was to help bring pet lovers in the community together, and that's how PetRescue was born.
My day is spent working closely with rescue groups and researching information on responsible pet ownership, animal welfare and worldwide best practice techniques to share with our members and to provide content for the visitors to the PetRescue site. I feel very privileged to be a part of such a valuable project and to have received so much support from our community. We simply wouldn't exist without the armies of people out there that make PetRescue happen.
I see every day that rescues make the greatest pets. By getting them out of cages and into the community, we can showcase what fantastic animals they are and I genuinely believe we can reach a day when there are no more homeless pets in Australia.
Rescue is my life. And what a blessed life it is.
John 'JB' Bishop - Web Monkey
Hi! I'm JB, PetRescue's resident Web Monkey, financial guy and anal-retentive proof-reader :) My role within PetRescue is primarily to keep the website running smoothly and implement cool new features that make life for our members and site visitors easier, and ultimately help more fantastic pets find fantastic forever homes.
I've spent most of my career working in IT for some of the largest corporates in Australia, and it's great to be able to bring the big-picture skills and experience that I've developed over the years to the PetRescue team. 2010 sees us celebrating the six-year anniversary of the launch of PetRescue, and I can honestly say that being involved in this constantly-evolving project from day one has been the most worthwhile and rewarding thing I've done in my life.
When I'm not beavering away on PetRescue, I enjoy cycling, snowboarding, playing a little guitar, catching up with friends for a pint or three and spending time with my rescue pet, Toby, a Flat-coated Retriever.
Vickie 'Vix' Davy - Media Hound
Hi, I'm Vix :) I have the kind of CV that makes me look oddly unemployable. I worked for years in advertising and marketing, then studied to become a behavioural dog trainer and began working in animal shelters.
I love working with rescue animals, but found it incredibly frustrating that there were hundreds of fantastic family pets being killed every day because homes couldn't be found for them. And worse, so many people I spoke to wanted to adopt a rescue pet, but didn't know where to find them.
PetRescue is all about connecting people with pets and and it's my job to find new ways to get our message out there, by finding and connecting with generous corporate and community partners who can help us get the message out about just how great rescue pets are.
When we started PetRescue the idea of rescue pets on TV was an unobtainable dream, but here we are 5 years later and if you keep your eyes peeled, you are about to see the first of our rescue pet stars.
JB, Shel & myself are always coming up with great ideas and concepts that help rescue pets become more and more well known to the public. That's what makes our jobs so exciting, because the harder and smarter we work - the more beautiful rescue pets find their forever homes!
And last but not least - through PetRescue I've finally found a job that actually complements my completely random skill set!
